The International Goalkeepers Academy was established at the Blacktown International Sportspark in 2006 after former Australian World Cup Goalkeeper and Academy Director, Jim Fraser, negotiated a long-term lease of the ground with Blacktown Council.
The academy has since established itself as the leading resource for goalkeeper coaching and specific goalkeeper fitness programs. The academy is housed within the Blacktown International Sportspark site, used formerly for the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
The precinct is regarded as the centre of sport in the western suburbs. This facility also acts as home to the Western Sydney Wanderers offices and training grounds, the Sydney Blue Sox Baseball Team, Softball NSW, NSW Cricket, AFL Academy and an international athletic track.
The IGA facility features a flood-lit field, an artificial turf shooting area, grass goal areas, dressing sheds, offices, a modern kitchen, a Keeper-Fit Shop, a goalkeeper-specific gymnasium and a fully equipped lecture room.
The Keeper-Fit Shop has the largest range of goalkeeping gloves, apparel and protective clothing in Sydney, as well as training aids, making this location a one-stop shop for all your goalkeeper requirements.
