Program Structure
At the International Goalkeepers Academy we have structured our course to suit goalkeepers of all levels of abilities.
We offer Junior, Intermediate, Senior, Advanced and Premier programs. We cater for the casual player who wishes to play in the local competitions through to the career minded keeper who is aimed at playing at a professional level.
All coaches instructing in these sessions are accredited with the Coaching Council of Australia and receive regular updates through the Academy.
Director of Coaching Jim Fraser who developed the curriculum is also an experienced Coach Educator having written the coaching programs for Soccer Australia.
At the International Goalkeepers Academy we work in groups where all keepers have to perform all the tasks. Many parents and keepers have the idea that the keeper coach should do all the serving. In the modern game the keeper must also have all the skills of a field player and for this reason we have developed training drills that require the keepers to perform all techniques required in the game. The group situation also develops leadership qualities required and builds confidence and concentration levels.
The Junior Program An introduction to goalkeeping practices for keepers aged 8 to 11 years. The course teaches the basic techniques of goalkeeping in a fun filled environment. Ball handling routines, Diving, Punching, Shot Stopping and Distribution as well as Team Building and Communications skills are included in the course.
The Intermediate Program This is the next step up and the course increases the intensity of training and introduces Tactical Awareness, Physical Development, Psychological Development and Body Maintenance components to the course. The components of this course give keepers the platform to progress to the Senior Program.
The Senior Program (Maximum Keepers in Group - 8) A higher level of proficiency is required to advance to this group. Keepers participating in this program will already have ambitions of course is another stepping stone in career development which prepares keepers to reach their full potential.
