About us
The International Goalkeepers Academy is based in Sydney, and its headquarters are located at the Blacktown Olympic Park (BOP) which is situated in the North West of Sydney. The Academy was established in the year 2000 by Jim Fraser. Anthony La Paglia who is a big supporter of football in Australia has also invested in the International Goalkeepers Academy.
The Academy provides specialist goalkeeper training and development for players at all levels and ages. It has been exclusively set-up and operated by Jim Fraser and it is intended that upon completion the BOP facility will be established as a centre of excellence for the development of football goalkeepers.
Goalkeepers are in demand worldwide and the Academy will be the leader in developing and maintaining a high standard of goalkeeper skills and techniques for the international market-place. The Academy has arisen to fulfill the niche involved in training the modern day goalkeeper. Goalkeepers in the present day require new modern techniques, new types of equipment, physiotherapy expertise to provide special exercises to prevent injuries, and ongoing development of both physical and mental attributes. Many coaches and current football academies have limited or no experience in goalkeepers and typically the needs of goalkeepers in the past have been neglected.
The primary purpose of the Academy is to develop the goalkeeper as the elite athlete in football, with development of youth and aspiring goalkeepers to reach world standard.
The secondary purpose is to train the coach at all levels of the games – local, state, national and international level.
